God of our City

Our next sermon series topic for the next month at Every Nation Pretoria is 'God of this City'.
We're going to address how God calls us to be apart of the city. Bringing God's Kingdom into Pretoria, through serving, giving, taking part and going.

Here's some of the imagery we're going to use, designed by our Link Team. (they're all volunteers from the church) Jaco Dreyer took the most amazing shots of the city at sunset and night which we've used as our base. Ben Kunz designed the illustrated logo. Annalien Venter designed the roadsigns which are going up outside the church as advertisements. I had the lucky privilege of bringing it all together. Here's the result...

I'm so grateful for our Link media team, they're all volunteers but give so much of their time and input! Plus we get to pour our talents and creative gifting's into God's Kingdom.
That is a privilege!!!

Every Nation World Conference Cout Down!

Once every three years our Every Nation international family of churches gather for the World Conference. This year 2010, marks the largest conference yet, and it's going to be hosted in Manila, Philipines. They are expecting more than 18 000 people at the conference, from all over the world!

I'll be leaving in 4 days with 35 of our Pretoria Every Nation members and will be staying for just over 2 and half weeks. The conference is always an amazing experience; feedback from across the world in what God is doing in the church body, dances, media and worship expressing cultures from around the world! I have a passion for multi-culturalism, so the thought of being in one space with such a large presentation of the world blows my mind!

Have a look at these media clips to get a better idea of what the conference is about:

Another really good clip:

What I'm most excited for is the 5 day internship I'll be doing with the Manila Media team after the conference. I'll be helping in post-production as well as getting a better idea of how they run things there. They provide media and serve hundreds of churches in the Philippines, as well as cater internationally for book and ministry resources. My objective for the week is to see logistically and structurally what a media team serving so many entities looks like? As well as meet and build relationships with the tam, as we liaise frequently over email but have never had enough time to really share vision and idea's. As the Every Nation Pretoria Link media team, we dream of growing to a point where we can provide for and serve churches in Africa with media resources. As well as using media specifically in community transformation and mission research. So the objective is to combine what we see in Manila with our vision for Africa and see what new ideas and visions develop? I'm particularily excited about learning from the Manila church since they're also a 3rd world country like ours, and thus we share similar logistical struggles and challenges. Miemie and Elmien, both volunteers for Link will be doing the internship with me.

Then after the week internship, it's time for 5 days of backpacking! No clear plans yet, besides that I want to find my way to the coast and Philippino islands as soon as possible, and take it from there.

I'll make a point of doing some blogging as I go:)

part-CITY-pate

I hope this entry inspires you, wherever you find yourself, to walk the streets of your city, meet the people, search for the history, enjoy the places and see the potential. Miemie and I spent a weekend in the city... here are some of the sights and happenings from just 2 days...

Don't just do the usual, don't do shopping malls, don't wonder where to go...
Part-CITY-pate!

Interview with Dear Rae

* Dear Rae *
jewelery

"I look to create jewellery that celebrates the precious quality in our everyday lives. My jewellery reflects symbolic narratives that are inspired by memories and moments experienced in the nature and community of South Africa."

Give us a brief overview of your latest range?

I did a series of thin silver rings. Some were grouped in 3's, some were round, some where square, some had trinkets.

Next series of work you’re working on?

Beautifully understated jewellery, that is so comfortable, you forget that you are wearing it.

How do you feel about South African design industry?

an exciting and colourful explosion waiting to happen
